International Book Week: Random Sentence

Ok, I am told that it is International Book Week. Since yesterday was Official Talk-Like-a-Pirate Day, I am exhausted from all the partying, but I will make my best effort at commemorating the week honoring the one thing I like even better than carbohydrates — BOOKS.

Now, I don’t know if this is a real tradition or not, but I saw it on the ‘net, and it seemed like a pretty cool thing to do. Celebrate International Book Week as follows:

1. Pick up the first book you can reach.
2. Turn to page 52.
3. Find the fifth sentence on that page.
4. Post it — just the sentence. No title, no description, no explanation. Let everyone wonder what on earth you are reading.

(Seriously, though, if you are reading 50 Shades, don’t. I mean, just don’t. We’re better off not knowing.)

So here’s my IBW sentence:

Maybe she had been taken hostage and her mother’s killer was at this moment waiting for a policeman to stick his head inside the house so he could blow it off, too.

Yikes! I don’t normally read suspense …. Oops, I forgot. No explanation. It is what it is. (And what it is, is fairly bloodthirsty, don’t ya think? Obviously, I’m not reading one of my Regency Romances tonight!!!)

  1. Neat idea – when did you start reading crime novels?
